Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
In short
We collect what we need to show you suitable matches, and nothing more. We do not sell your data or show advertisements. You control who sees your photos, your name and your mobile number. You can delete your account at any time.
Who we are
JodiQ ("we") is responsible for your personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. For any question about this policy, write to support@jodiq.com.
Information you give us
- Identity: name, date of birth, gender, mobile number, WhatsApp number, email.
- Profile: height, marital status, religion, caste, sub-caste, mother tongue, education, profession, income range, city, district, state, native place, family details, lifestyle, horoscope details (including time and place of birth, if you add them) and your description of yourself.
- Photos you upload.
- A government photo ID (masked Aadhaar, PAN card, Voter ID, driving licence or passport). This is required to complete sign-up, so our team can confirm you are a real person. For Aadhaar, upload only the masked version showing the last 4 digits.
- Partner preferences.
- Messages you send to other members.
Much of this is sensitive personal data. You give it to us so that other members can consider you as a match, and we use it only for the purposes below.
Information collected automatically
- A device notification token, so we can send you alerts.
- Basic app usage and crash reports, through Google Firebase Crashlytics, so we can fix problems.
- Whether you are online, and when you last read a message.
- The IP address and the device or browser you sign in from, and when. We use this to protect your account (for example, new sign-in alerts) and to prevent fraud.
We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How your information is used
- To create your profile and show it to other members.
- To check your ID and photos before your profile is approved.
- To rank matches by community, location, education and your stated preferences.
- To deliver interests, messages and notifications.
- To calculate kundli matching, when you ask for it.
- To contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email about your account, your verification, or our subscription plans. If you do not want calls about plans, tell us and we will stop.
- To investigate reports and keep members safe.
- To process subscription payments.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it to anybody.
Who can see what
- Other signed-in members can see your profile details and, depending on your settings, your photos and surname.
- Your mobile number, WhatsApp number and email are never shown on your profile. A member can see them only if you allow it, under Settings → Privacy Settings → "Who can see my mobile number?":
- Paid members who unlock — a subscribed member can unlock your contact details using a contact credit.
- Only my connections — only people whose interest you have accepted, or who accepted yours.
- Standard and Premium members: a JodiQ representative may show your biodata to families who visit our office, to help find offline matches.
- Your profile is not visible to people who are not signed in, and is blocked from search engines.
- A shared profile link shows no name and no photo until the person signs in.
Our team
A small JodiQ team reviews new profiles, ID proofs and reports. Only team members doing that work can see ID proofs, and they are not allowed to download, copy or photograph them. Our team may phone you about your verification or account.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the services that run JodiQ, and each receives only what it needs:
- Google Firebase — hosting, database, file storage, sign-in, text-message codes, notifications and crash reporting.
- Meta (WhatsApp) — your mobile number, to send you verification codes.
- Zoho Mail — your email address, to send you account emails such as sign-in alerts and password resets.
- Prokerala — the birth details of you and the other person, only when you ask for kundli matching.
- Razorpay — payment processing. They receive payment details; we never see or store your card number.
We will also disclose information if required by law, a court, or the police. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Where your data is stored
On Google Firebase servers. Some of these services process data outside India, under Google's standard contractual protections.
How long we keep it
- While your account is active.
- If you delete permanently, your profile and photos are removed from JodiQ straight away. To help investigate fraud, a protected copy of your profile, ID proof and sign-in records (IP addresses and devices) is kept for one year and then permanently erased. Nobody can see it, and it is shared only with the police or a court on a lawful request.
- Messages you sent remain visible to the person who received them, as they are part of their conversation too.
- Records of blocks and reports are kept even after deletion, so a blocked person cannot return with a new account.
- Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You may:
- See and correct your information — Edit Profile.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or a summary of how we use it.
- Hide your profile temporarily, or delete it permanently.
- Withdraw consent for a particular use, as easily as you gave it: turn off alerts in Notification Settings, change who sees your photos or number in Privacy Settings, ask us to stop calls about plans, or delete your account to withdraw it completely.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to — write to us with their name and contact details.
- Complain about how we handle your data.
Write to support@jodiq.com for any of these. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
If something goes wrong
If a security breach affects your personal data, we will tell you without delay — what happened, what it means for you, and what you can do — and report it to the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Delete Account. Without the app: visit jodiq.com/delete-account.html, or email support@jodiq.com from your registered email with the subject "Delete my account". We will confirm by email once it is done.
Children
JodiQ is only for adults of legal marriageable age in India — 21 for men and 18 for women. We do not knowingly allow anyone younger. If you believe a minor has registered, tell us at support@jodiq.com and we will remove the account.
Our website
Our website stores your sign-in and some app data in your browser, so you stay signed in and pages load quickly. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Security
Access is protected by Firebase Authentication, and our database rules restrict every member to their own data and the profiles they are allowed to see. No service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password and never share it.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date above and notify you in the app for anything significant. Questions: support@jodiq.com
